Ward was born in MonroeLouisianaon April 151976. Monroe Christian School is a Christian-only private school. In her secondary educationWard went to Ouachita Parish High School. She later transferred in River Oaks High School on the following summer, after her junior year. She was a member of the dance and drill team. Following her graduation, she was a student at Northeast Louisiana University. Ward began modeling at the age of thirteen, leaving her school in order to relocate to New York. Her acting career began after a few years further down the line. Her first role was uncredited in the late 1970s for the soap-opera All My Children. Later she was a part of the NBC's prime-time drama for teens, Malibu Shores. Ward was cast in her debut performance in the Sunset Beach daytime soap opera, where she played the romantically virginal Meg Cummings. She began her film career.
